Mrs Ward shared her career in politics, including her time working as part of the Foreign Office, and her current work representing local residents in her ward. Students and staff thoroughly enjoyed Mrs Ward's visit and found it insightful to see how local government operates.

Critical Theories Media Study Day at BFI

Year 12 Media students took part in a Critical Theories Key Stage 5 Study Day at the BFI Southbank recently.

Students explored the A-Level theorists during an interactive lecture on a variety of theorists including the work of Van Zoonen, hooks and Baudrillard. Students investigated how these theorists could be applied to film and music videos as well as newspapers.

The day consisted of ‘critically’ analysing the critical theories as well as an insightful interview and Q&A with guest speaker Sophie Sacthell Baeza.

Students were able to come away with a fountain of knowledge, a revision pack and in particular the skills to debate and question the theorists studied on the OCR specification.

Our sStudents were exceptional and represented HRSF impeccably.
