Careers Provision at HRSF
Our careers provision is part of our wider PD Strategy within our Co-Curriculum. We aim to make students Informed and competitive. Our students actively seek out opportunities that will enhance their competitive profiles, gaining valuable experiences that set them apart. They understand the skills that employers seek such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving and they use this to embrace challenges that enable growth. This enables our students to become self-assured and confident enabling them to make bold, brave and ambitious choices. The program is designed to be progressive, with Year 12 focusing on exploration and foundational skills, and Year 13 emphasising refinement and readiness for the next stage of students' journeys.
In Year 12 at Harris Rainham Sixth Form, students focus on exploring their interests and future career pathways. They participate in workshops on job interviews, experience a formal interview with a stranger during National Interview Week, and independently secure and complete a week of work experience. Additionally, students attend the "Discover London" event at the Excel Centre, where they engage with further education providers and industry professionals. This year is designed to build self-awareness, practical skills, and confidence, laying a strong foundation for their future career planning.
In Year 13 at Harris Rainham Sixth Form, students refine the skills and knowledge gained in Year 12, focusing on preparing for their next steps after sixth form. They learn how to write professional CVs, participate in group interview activities, and deepen their understanding of various career types and pathways. This year emphasizes readiness for higher education, apprenticeships, or employment, ensuring students leave confident and well-prepared for their future endeavours.
