Diplomacy, Law and Legislation Guild
Posted on: 07/10/2024In our Diplomacy, Law and Legislation Guild students have been engaging in debates. Last week students were considering the motion 'Humanity should fear advances in Artificial Intelligence.'
Students prepared thoroughly for the debate, researching the advantages and risks of AI, before being assigned to roles for the debate itself. Both teams presented their case and then faced questions from the judges as well as the student audience. By a narrow margin, the team arguing in favour of the motion won!
Students have also debated the following topic: ‘Monuments to controversial historical figures should remain in place'. It has been great to see our sixth formers articulate their thoughts with clarity, and actively listen to the views of others.
