Sickle Cell Disease - Assembly and Fundraiser
Posted on: 24/09/2024The month of September aims to spread awareness around sickle cell disease - the UK’s most common and fastest growing genetic disorder.
Sickle cell disease affects the development of red blood cells, causing them to be sickle cell shaped. The main symptoms include anaemia, increased risk of infections, and pain, including episodes call ‘sickle cell crises’, which happens when blood flow to certain parts of the body become blocked.
Nifemi (Year 12) held an assembly today to educate others on the disease and raise awareness. Nifemi, alongside a group of peers, will be hosting a fundraiser next week. Please bring money in to support the cause!
Well done Nifemi - a fantastic presentation this morning!
