Mrs Ward shared her career in politics, including her time working as part of the Foreign Office, and her current work representing local residents in her ward. Students and staff thoroughly enjoyed Mrs Ward's visit and found it insightful to see how local government operates.

A Level Taster Sessions Start

At Harris Rainham Sixth Form we are hosting a series of taster sessions which will aim to give students who are applying to Harris Rainham Sixth Form with an insight into the subject at A-Level.

Each session will delve into a topic on the A-Level course and allow students to experience the content which they will be studying beyond GCSE. The session will also outline the specification requirements and the ways the subject will be examined, as well as recommended pre-reading.

IMG 5520 (002)On Thursday we had our A-Level Biology taster session (pictured). In this session we built upon our GCSE knowledge on cells and organelles, using this knowledge to learn about how organelles work together to synthesise hormones such as insulin. Students were able to successfully complete an A-Level exam question to showcase their knew knowledge. It was great to see passionate biologists collaborate and discuss ideas from four different secondary schools!

The sessions are open to any current Year 11 student, not limited to Harris Academy Rainham students, who are applying to our sixth form. We hope that these sessions will be enjoyable and will aid you in making your all-important subject choices as you enter Year 12.
