University of Essex Trip to Human Performance Unit
Posted on: 28/11/2024It was great to see our Year 12 and Year 13 CTEC Sport students and Coaching Elective students attend the Human Performance Unit at The University of Essex.
The visit to the £12 million complex, which opened in 2018, was a chance for our students to gain a valuable experience into the world of Sports Science.
Students were introduced to members of the Human Performance team and current students at the university shared their experiences and wealth of knowledge.
Our students took part in a range of physiological tests including the VO2 max test, sub-maximal testing, and the Force plate test. These tests are performed on a regular basis during the students first year of a Sports Science degree.
The afternoon session saw students dive into the world of Sport Psychology and how the brain works under different sporting scenario pressures.
The students thoroughly enjoyed this experience and opportunity to visit the university and the Human Performance Centre at The University of Essex, Colchester.
