UK Senior Maths Challenge - 29 Competitors
Posted on: 17/10/2024The UKMT Senior Challenge is designed to stretch and push young mathematicians in unique ways, relying on their logical reasoning and skills without a calculator at hand.
We are so proud of our HRSF mathematicians, with 29 students participating in this challenge.
The Senior Challenge papers last for 90-minutes and consist of 25 multiple-choice questions, which ramp up in difficulty. Four marks are awarded for every correct answer, but a mark is deducted for a wrong answer (to discourage simple guessing).
A special mention to those who were awarded the silver award (top 33% across the UK) and the Bronze award (top 66% of the UK).
- Year 13 Silver: Nimrut, Siyana, Paige, Kyle, Holly.
- Year 12 Silver: Matas.
- Year 13 Bronze: Rhianne, Sidney, Ayna, Samuel.
- Year 12 Bronze: Teo, Emmanuella, Safi, Ivwananji, Israel, Elis, Michelle, Sahriar.
Regardless of outcome, the challenge serves as a good way to engage students' mathematical prowess in a different light, offering a new-found appreciation for the subject. Well done to all who took part - what a fantastic achievement!
